Adjust attribution setup: how to get the App Token, S2S security token and event tokens

· 3 min read

Step by step: find the App Token, S2S security token and event tokens in the Adjust dashboard, then enter and test them in the swifttu Attribution page.

On this page

Once Adjust is connected to swifttu, visitor installs, registrations and first deposits / purchases are sent to Adjust as events for attribution and reporting. You need three kinds of values: the App Token (the app identifier), the S2S security token (a server-to-server password) and the event tokens (one per event). The sections below show where each one lives in the Adjust dashboard. The dashboard may change between releases, so go by what you actually see.

App Token

The App Token is the identifier Adjust assigns to each app: 12 letters and digits that tell Adjust which app an event belongs to.

  1. Sign in to the Adjust dashboard and open your app.
  2. Open "App settings".
  3. The "App token" is the value to enter. Copy it.

S2S security token

The S2S security token proves that an event really comes from your server, and works like a password. swifttu stores it encrypted; after saving it only shows "Configured" and never displays the plain text again.

  1. In the Adjust dashboard, open the app's "App settings".
  2. Find "S2S security" (server-to-server security).
  3. Generate or copy the S2S token and paste it into swifttu. It is not shown again after saving, so keep your own copy.
  4. Do not paste the token into chats or share screenshots of it. If you suspect a leak, regenerate it in Adjust and update the setting in swifttu.

Event tokens

An event token maps to one event in Adjust and is made of 6 characters. swifttu sends "Install", "Registration" and "First deposit / purchase" to their own events.

  1. In the Adjust dashboard, open the app and go to "Events".
  2. Create one event each for install, registration and first deposit / purchase. Every event has a 6-character event token.
  3. Enter each token in the matching "Install", "Registration" or "First deposit / purchase" field in swifttu. Leave events you have not created empty and swifttu will not send them.

Enter and test it in swifttu

With all values in hand, go back to swifttu:

  1. Open "Attribution" in the left menu and click "Add Adjust app".
  2. Enter an app name (only used to tell apps apart in the list), the App Token, the S2S security token and the event tokens you want to send. Fill in at least one event token, otherwise nothing is sent.
  3. Click "Test" in the dialog (it saves the form first). A test does not actually send anything to Adjust; it only shows the request that would be sent (with the security token masked), so you can check it first.
  4. Once the request looks right, walk through the flow with a real account to send one test event and confirm it appears in the Adjust dashboard.

Notes

  • You do not enter a device identifier: swifttu automatically fills a UUID generated from the device hash into web_uuid, and no URL or macro is needed.
  • The request fields follow the built-in Adjust S2S template, which has not yet been verified field by field with a real account. Always click "Test" to check the request first, then send one test event with a real account to confirm.
  • Forwarding to other channels: once Adjust receives an event, it can forward it to channels such as Facebook and TikTok through its own Partner setup. That is configured in Adjust, not in swifttu.
  • #Adjust
  • #Attribution
  • #S2S
